National School Walk Out DayInformation to Parents regarding the National School Walk Out Day on March 14, 2018

Since the shooting at the Majorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, students across the Nation plan to walk out of their classrooms on March 14 to protest gun violence and urge Congress to take action following the recent shooting. Students from Harrison High School and Washington Middle School will join the nationwide movement championed by the Women's March organization in which students, teachers and school administrators are encouraged to leave their schools at 10 a.m. to remember the 17 victims who died in the shooting.

The administration and staff have taken this walk-out seriously and have worked with the Harrison Police Department to keep the students who walk out of their respective school buildings safe. All schools will have police presence and the streets surrounding the Middle and High Schools will be closed. The Harrison School District is taking every measure to keep our students safe.

We are extremely proud of our students who have planned meaningful activities to honor the 17 victims of the Parkland shooting. Mayor Fife and our District Administrators will be participating in the program as well to support our students’ endeavors. Please know that we support the NOT IN OUR SCHOOLS Movement and strongly believe…..NOT IN OUR TOWN!
